The song “Strange fruit” by Billie Holiday is a song that describes
segregation and the horrible events that come along with segregation such as
lynching. The song describes the lynching and horrible treatments of African
Americans, which in this song are the “strange fruit.” Billie Holiday explains
that African Americans were punished just for being different. Frankenstein’s
monster also was segregated and was treated horribly because he was different.
The monster said: “but I had hardly placed my foot within the door before the
children shrieked, and one of the women fainted“(101). They throw stones and
other weapons at him and judge him for nothing but his looks. The song, “Strange Fruit”, and Frankenstein connect because they both are examples of segregated people being treated harshly.
